Adult Training

We currently have 3 sewing schools and one leather craft class. All the schools focus on teaching the very poor. We provide opportunities for people to learn a skill in order to be able to support their families.

  • Ruhuha School is located in the very poor village of Ruhuha. Women have very little opportunity to obtain an education. Jobs are scarce. Many women are abused and end up with children they are unable to feed. Sadly, this leads women to acts of prostitution so they can feed themselves and their children. More children come. It is a vicious cycle that is difficult to break. With our sewing classes, we are able to offer these women an opportunity to learn a trade. They learn skills needed to survive and provide food for their families. We combine Bible classes along with sewing classes Our hope is to make a difference here and for all eternity.

  • The sewing class for underprivileged women in Ruhuha is a subsidiary of the Seth-Joshua Children’s community center. It sits adjacent to the center. A sewing class is offered to teach a trade to women at no charge to them. The school has had several graduating classes. Currently a new semester has started with nine women attending. We pay $75 a month for the teacher and buy supplies for the women to learn with. We are currently engaged in trying to find a place at market for the women after graduating to make items to sell to be self-supporting. The goal is to help these women (many are struggling single mothers) be able to feed themselves and their children.

  • Heather's House is named in memory of a young lady named Heather who lost her life way too soon as a result of addiction. This sewing school focuses on women in addiction. It is located outside of Kigali in a rural area. It is operated by Pastor Muneza Clement. Pastor Clement has a heart to help addicts. He is a nurse and works with addicts on a full-time basis. He is also a pastor in Kigali. He and his family operate a local preschool that was built by Rwanda and Company, Inc. Many women fall into traps of addiction because of lack of education, lack of food, and a lack of opportunities. Drugs and alcohol numb the pain of hunger and hopelessness. Pastor Clement realized there is a gap in the system for rehabilitation. This school along with other programs that he has developed is helping to bridge the gap. These women are learning a skill so they can survive. They are also having Bible study. Our goal is to make a difference now and for all eternity.

Recently Heather's house suffered a robbery. Thieves broke in and stole all the machines. The women have one machine left that they are using to learn. Prayers are needed for wisdom on how we move forward with this situation.

  • This is a class that focuses on men in addiction. It is a 6-month training program in which men are living in a transitional home. They learn leathercraft with a focus on shoe making. This training gives them an opportunity to be able to learn a trade in which they can support themselves. They also study the bible and learn life skills. Our goal is to empower men to become better fathers, husbands, and members of society. We want to make a difference now and for all eternity.
